Every year thousands of Tibetan Pilgrims descend on the villages in Southern Gansu Province to take part in the most important religious festival of the year; the sunning of the Tangka and Great Prayer Festival. It is one of the most stunning displays of religious devotion to be found in China, with pilgrims from various Tibetan ethnic subgroups, all in traditional clothing, coming to the temples in Langmusi and Xiahe to be part of the festival.
